SCREEN PUREST for a cleaner sea

21 April 2023

Did you know that, every year, about 8 million tons of plastic flow into the sea? And that recent studies have demonstrated that water pollution is at such an advanced stage that, by 2050, it is estimated that 99% of the sea birds will have injected plastic and that there will be more plastic than fish in the sea?

Terrifying, isn’t it?

It may be the moment to do something altogether to block this dangerous drift that has inevitable consequences on the planet and its inhabitants’ health. SCREEN Purest has decided to make a difference, not only using recycled and recyclable plastic and paper for its packaging but choosing to commit to direct environmental activities supporting the LifeGate PlastiLess® project.

Thanks to the sponsorship of a Seabin device for plastic collection in Pescara Harbour, SCREEN Purest ccontributes with a concrete gesture to reducing plastic waste in one of our Italian seas. The Seabin is a collection bin for waste floating on the water’s surface, able to capture over 500 kg of debris a year, including plastic, micro plastic, and general waste that sadly finds its way into the sea due to tourist settlement on the beaches.

How does the Seabin work?
The Seabin is placed in the water and fixed to a dock with the upper part of the device on the same level as the water’s surface. Thanks to the wind’s spontaneous force, as well as currents, and the device’s strategic positioning, debris is sucked directly into it.
Its water pump can treat 25,000 liters of seawater an hour.
Water flows across the Seabin pump, coming out clean. Harbors are the ideal place to carry this kind of collecting as they are considered “accumulation points” where most sea waste converges.

Keep on following us for updates about the collecting and its results!
